Beer of the Week: Founders Centennial IPA

What Edward James Olmos is to wonderfully gifted, transcendent Mexican-American actors, Founders Centennial is to wonderfully crafted IPAs. How good was he as Gaff in Blade Runner? Good Lord.

Pine on the nose, citrus up front, floral on the finish, with smooth caramel maltiness riding underneath it all, Founders Centennial IPA is one of the must-have beers of its style, and surprisingly smooth for a 7.2% ABV beer.

Founders is located in Grand Rapids, Michigan, a straight shoot up I-69, about four and a half fours from lovely Fountain Square. Given their proximity, all Founders products arrive Doug E. Fresh — always within two weeks of bottling and kegging. Currently, we offer Founders Porter, Red’s Rye P.A. (one of my all-time favorites), Dirty Bastard Scotch Ale, and Founders KBS in bottles. Centennial is on draft today, and can be tremendously enjoyed for $5 a pint — later this week look for Red’s Rye on tap.

Swing by soon and enjoy something from our neighbors to the north, one of the midwest’s finest producers of divine ales.
